ANDREA LECOS – Paonia, CO

Images appear spontaneously in my mind, as from a mysterious conduit - channeling a picture show of images. Most imagery is inspired by stories heard, the beauty and wonder of experiences in Nature, or from emotions that arise out of the human condition. The process to materialize those visions into a tangible piece is the actual creative process.... the journey. I never know right away how I want to make the vision into reality... but that is the fun of the actual process as the ideas keep flowing. And then, that spark of an image becomes a tangible piece that I hope inspires questions, excitement and wonderment in those that get to experience the artwork.

This process is the same for all of my mediums, whether songwriting, instrumentals, adding to my line of greeting cards and prints, or exploring new forms of mixed-media creations. I was a self-taught graphic artist for 20 yrs, now retired. But I've been dabbling in art ever since I was a young girl. I like to work with watercolor, acryclic, lino and woodblock prints, as well as fine pencil and ink. However, I'm ready to explore new mediums and techniques, and I'm now excited to see what the time of retirement opens for the creative river to flow!
